Founded in 2011, matchbook media + pr began as a company focusing on public relations. Legendary actor Bill Cobbs was the first client. After observing founder Taylor Owenby working at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival, Cobbs contracted matchbook to handle a film project with him in Nashville. After returning to Atlanta, matchbook media + pr began signing individual clients for public relations services in the arts and entertainment industries. After two years of building a body of work including individual career launches, event production, promotion, press and red carpet coordination, matchbook began producing content.
After launching several Atlanta careers through the SAG-Aftra new media pilot Intrepid Academy (released in France, 2014), matchbook media + pr began working in production and consulting with larger clients. The company has worked with several film festivals in the region. Duties include producing festival panels, workshops, screenings and press. Festivals include The Savannah Film Festival, The Atlanta Film Festival, The Macon Film Festival, The Milledgeville Film Festival, PVIFF and The Georgia Big Picture Conference.
In 2014, we began representing films on the festival circuit. National campaign highlights include Awards, LA Critics Association (A) reviews, press and international distribution offers and signings. We have also premiered a film at The Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard to raving reviews. With Associated Press distribution around the world, we have secured a spot in Atlanta as a premiere firm for handling brand development and positioning within the entertainment industry. Owenby also produced action-thriller Operator at during this time.
