Creative Rights Caucus Co-Chairs Representative Judy Chu and Representative Doug Collins hosted “Beyond the Red Carpet: Movie & TV Magic Day” in cooperation with members of the film and television community. The series of trade booths and live demonstrations offered a behind-the-scenes look at the creativity, talent and innovation at the core of the American film and television industry, which supports 2 million workers in all 50 states.

That’s why I founded the Creative Rights Caucus, to help provide a voice for creators here in Washington. Our signature ‘Beyond The Red Carpet’ event allows us to showcase talented, below-the-line workers and highlight the impact of the creative industries on the workforce in every state. Yesterday’s event also demonstrates the need for our country to have strong intellectual property protections to ensure that we maintain and grow the workforce in our country.”

Attendees experienced interactive trade booths, live demonstrations, and heard from members of the industry including:
- Iconic costumes from Warner Bros. Pictures’ film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice;
- An innovative illustrator known as a ‘Nature Faker’ who is also a marine expert and
sculptor whose illustrations have been used as set dressings in numerous films; - A virtual reality experience that will transport you to the set of Universal’s The Mummy, alongside Tom Cruise & Annabelle Wallis, as they perform a thrilling stunt in zero gravity;
- A live performance of music from some of the latest films along with a discussion on
how sound recordings are made; - An interactive photo booth highlighting FOX’s new TV show 24: Legacy;
- Original props from Paramount Pictures’ hit movies including Star Trek, Mission Impossible, andTransformers;
- The costume designer from AMC’s new upcoming drama The Son;
- An exclusive experience by Deluxe localization, and a look at the inner workings of the animation and VFX process by Deluxe’s Method Studios;
- A look at the latest in exhibition technology, TimePlay, which turns cinema screens into interactive, multi-player experiences; and,
- A look at Emmy-nominated make-up effects artists creating a half-human, half-mutant.
