The binge-worthy Netflix series ‘Ozark,’ set at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, is shooting for Season 2 soon, but a long ways from Lake of the Ozarks and Missouri.
On Monday, Nov. 13, Backstage.com put out a casting call for extras to appear in the series, which was expected to shoot Nov. 20, 21, 29, or Dec. 7 in Atlanta, Ga. Extras are being paid $100 for eight hours of work, plus overtime.
The majority of ‘Ozark’ is being shot in Georgia, and that’s because the state has crafted massive tax incentives for production companies. Among them: a 20 percent base transferable tax credit, with an additional 10 percent uplift to that tax credit if the film includes the Georgia logo or otherwise works out a custom marketing agreement with the state. A “transferable” tax credit means if the company’s tax credits outweigh the company’s tax liability, the company can sell the remaining credits to another entity that owes state taxes.
