Speakers Announced for 2018 BigPictureCon Film & Technology Conference +Short Film Festival at Clayton State University


The Big Picture Film & Video Foundation is pleased to announce its lineup of speakers and panelists presenting at the 2018 BigPictureCon Film & Technology Conference + Short Film Festival Sunday & Monday, April 8-9th at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.

This year’s lineup of speakers will feature acclaimed veteran television and film director and producer, Oz Scott as featured keynote guest at the closing session at 5pm on April 9th.

Now in its 13th year, and convening over 200 digital media industry luminaries, as well as student and emerging filmmakers and content creators, the BigPictureCon provides informative educational sessions, networking and professional development that examines use of technology and digital media and its impact on individuals and industries as varied as the people who use them. Oz Scott has been producing and directing popular television sitcoms in each of the last 4 decades, including The Jeffersons in the 70s, Gimme a Break, Hill Street Blues and L.A. Law in the 80s, and JAG, The Practice, and Ally McBeal in the 90s – among many others. Since 2000 he has directed Soul Food, Strong Medicine, CSI, Ed, Lizzie McGuire, and The Guardian, and was both director and supervising producer to CBS TV’s The District. Scott’s movie credits include: The Cheetah Girls, Play’d A Hip-Hop Story, and Crash Course.

Mr. Scott will be interviewed in our closing session, “In the Director’s Chair,” by Atlanta-based film director Kristen McGary, whose feature directorial debut, The Adventures of Ociee Nash, starring Keith Carradine and Mare Winningham, was distributed by 20th Century Fox for DVD/Home Video release, HBO Central Europe and Netflix.

We also have independent filmmakers Fran Burst, Mike Brune, and Adam Pinney, television producer Suzan Satterfield, and entertainment attorneys B. Lawrence Watkins and Chuck Douglas who will be on a legal representation panel with returning speaker Lisa Moore, Esq. of The Moore Firm.

Returning speakers include Ryan Monolopolus who will conduct his On-Camera Combatives action workshop for actors and directors; Fredrick Bussey of Icon Status who will conduct our Industry Networking Lunch session, and Jonathan Harris, Associate Film Professor with Clayton State University, who will conduct both the Beginner and Intermediate Editing sessions. Shandra McDonald who is also a film instructor at Clayton State, will moderate ‘The Wonder Women Directors Panel’ which focuses on support for women who want to become successful directors. In addition to the informative panels, the conference includes, workshops and technology demos, as well as a Short Film Festival which takes place at 4:30pm Sunday, April 8th.
