“Entertainment” is a roughly $2 billion industry in DeKalb County.
That is a finding of the first study commissioned by the DeKalb Entertainment Commission, which said Monday that its baseline research found economic impact of the entertainment industry in DeKalb County at $1.98 billion in 2016. That’s a 12 percent bump in industry jobs from 2011-16.
The analysis, prepared by Robert Lann Consulting LLC, looked at different Bureau of Labor Statistics job categories in the film, TV, music and gaming industries, and the impact numbers include various multipliers. For example, DEC estimates that every job created locally in the entertainment industry generates 1.45 additional jobs in other areas. The report showed that 5,689 jobs generated an additional 8,711 jobs.
