Gwinnett Technical College is beginning to shut down an academic program that overhauled its curriculum last fall and recently experienced a spike in enrollment.
The Technical College System of Georgia’s board approved a request from Gwinnett Tech to terminate its 34-year old photography program during the board’s monthly meeting last week. Students who are already enrolled in the program will be allowed to finish their degrees, but the program is scheduled to completely shut the program down by 2020.
The college told the Daily Post that the decision to terminate the program, although it has been met with strong push back from supporters, was based on finances.
