In Florida, film and entertainment industry jobs are present and pay well, but some advocates believe that will go away unless action is taken.
A report released by Florida Tax Watch on Thursday examined the economic impact of the film and television industry in Florida in 2017. Researchers discovered there were more than 4,400 established businesses in the industry in Florida, employing more than 26,000 Floridians. And the jobs paid 69 percent higher than Florida’s annual average wage, with an annual salary of $81,700.
Florida used to hold the third spot in the nation for the entertainment industry, largely in part due to incentives offered. However, the funding was cut in 2013 and officially sunset in 2015.
