Muscogee County middle, high school students to be honored for placing in 2019 Georgia Film Academy contest

Muscogee County is now home to not one, not two, but three local school teams recognized for their excellence in filmmaking.

Shaw High won Best Picture in the high school division for the short film “Through It All.” Teamates Marquise Jones, Garrek Fuller, William Evans, and Marquay Collins say their project focuses on the adversities a person may go through and conquer in order to become successful.

“People actually go through that in real life. So why not put it and display it through a video so people can learn from it or can vent towards it, because people go through that,” Jones explains to News 3’s Mikhaela Singleton. “So it’s nice to shine a light on a dark subject.”

The teens say they were proud and honored when their piece was chosen as this year’s winner.

“I wanted to scream, yay!” Jones laughs

“It was a great feeling,” Collins adds.

“I mean it was like a big relief, because all the stress paid off for something,” Fuller says. See more at
