Carmike stockholders approved the amended and restated merger agreement with AMC Theatres. David Passman, Carmike Cinemas’ President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “We are pleased with the outcome of today’s vote.”

A new digital animation degree at Kennesaw State University will soon prepare students to creatively work in Georgia’s fast-growing entertainment industry. Today, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Animation.
“This program is a great example of how Columbus State University is responding to industry needs,” said CSU President Chris Markwood. “We are proud to have been asked to be one of the first partners in the Georgia Film Academy.”
Although there have been a lot of revisions to the original legislation over the past 10 years including changes to the cap of $25 million, GEIIA is still one of the strongest tax credit programs at the state level for the entertainment industry.
